Maybe Myrtle Tyrtle (New folk bum chack rockers)

Annotation

Maybe Myrtle Tyrtle are an all singing, all dancing pack of new folk troubadours from the sunny North East of England.

Totally at home playing on stage, busking in the street, dancing on your screen or jammin' down the studio, they channel the raw flavour of contemporary UK folk with rockabilly, hillbilly fiddling, reggae tainted bass, twisted brass and the infectious "bum-chack" rhythm they've made their own.

A breath of fresh air amid an explosion of saxophones, guitars and fiddles, Maybe Myrtle Tyrtle's energetic live performance, delivered with the spirit of Gogol Bordello and aided by lashings on Green Ginger Wine, has earnt them an enviable reputation as "quite possibly the best example of psycobilly, rockabilly blues you will hear." (THE FLY)

Maybe Myrtle Tyrtle's second album, Hotel Fandango, is released later this year, and eagerly awaited by fans of its first single 'Brown Box', which is already receiving radio play across BBC Introducing stations before its release on November 16th. You can catch MMT at gigs across the UK and Europe, check their Myspace for more details. Contact Magpie Brown for booking enquiries.

"I for one am glad that, in a country where Blues-rock has become so stale there is one band using initiative and doing something enlightening." (BLUES MATTERS)

"Their aural sunshine mixes bluesy rockabilly with skiffle interludes and filters it through a feel-good fairground sound in a woozy triumph. Intoxicating." (THE CRACK MAGAZINE)
