Slayer (US thrash metal band)

Thrash metal band based out of Huntington Park, California.

Features members: Tom Araya (vocals, bass), Kerry King (lead and rhythm guitar), Jeff Hanneman (lead and rhythm guitar), Dave Lombardo (drums and percussion).

Inspired by punk, and have almost single handedly created the genre of death metal, mainly with their album "Reign in Blood". Subsequent albums "South of Heaven" and "Seasons in the Abyss" also proved to be wildly influential; all three have been certified gold.
