Pinkie Maclure and John Wills met in a recording studio in London in the late 90s. John was signed to Beggars Banquet in art noise outfit,’ Loop’ and was also making a name as a producer. Beggars asked John to record and jointly produce their new signing Pinkie Maclure for her solo album, ‘Favourite’
Having many musical ideas in common they became a songwriting team, producing to date five critically-acclaimed albums – From Memorial Crossing, This Day and Age, Cat’s Cradle, Becoming Pumajaw and Curiosity Box.
Combining Pinkie’s extraordinary voice with John’s looped and treated guitar, synths,samples, concertina and hypnotic rhythms they have a unique and seductive sound which stretches from psychedelic pop through sultry ballads to biting, bluesy electro.

Pumajaw are a Scotland-based electronic duo, composed of Pinkie Maclure (vocals, synths, samples, concertina) and John Wills (guitar, samples, synths, drum programming).
The duo met in London in 1994 when Wills produced Maclure's solo album. John Wills had previously been a founder member of Loop and The Hair and Skin Trading Company. Originally known as "Pinkie Maclure and John Wills", the duo changed their name following their move to Scotland from London in 2001. Their music is characterised by a blend of exploratory, cinematic arrangements and wide-ranging, blues-inflected vocals. They have recorded six albums together since 2000, influenced stylistically by film soundtracks, jazz, psychedelic folk and electronica.
The duo tour Europe regularly and have performed in Russia and the USA. In 2013 they recorded an album of songs from film noir to perform at the Edinburgh Festival. Their music has been remixed by Various Productions, Crooked Man and Christ., among others. They have also been known as Lumen and Fingerfood.Continue reading at Wikipedia...
