Annotation
Ed Starink produced a wide variation of work. Many albums of his own unique Synth work, as well as Classical and covers of Film Music.
His cover versions albums were published under numerous names. (...) and "1492 Conquest of Paradise - Music of Vangelis" by "Space 2000", better known as "Conquest of Paradise 2000". The quite misleadingly marketed "Space 2000" album probably caused more misunderstandings about the origin of its recordings than any other cover album did before.
(quoted from Elsewhere: The independent Vangelis website)
There are many aliases used by Ed Starink, and his music gets reissued on many albums without credits. Especially his movie covers.
Other names include: Eduward Starink (real name), Edgar Starink (as a member of the band “Gamma”), Eddy Starr (Orchestra), Star Inc., London Starlight Orchestra, Philippe L'Auran, London Studio Orchestra, Hollywood Studio Orchestra, Broadway Stage Orchestra, A Close Call (names from https://www.starink-world.net/biography.html)
2023 - fair bit of research is going on to link as many of the Starink reissues together as possible. It is clear that this guy not only uses many names, but his work is resold and reissued under many names by budget labels. Often with "Orchestra" in the name when it is just a synth.
Examples of other names attached to his reissued work include: John Blackinsell Orchestra, The Allen Toussaint Orchestra, Studio London Orchestra conducted by Nick North. All of these seem legit, but scratch under the surface and the same recordings reappear at later times in Starink's name on his own labels. These names are not uniquely attached to Ed as other artists recordings appear under these same names. These are just used by labels to hide the real source.
Ed is also easily confused with Russell B. Especially as they both are on Synths, they both like putting Laser into their label names, and both use a version of "Starlight Orchestra" as a brand name.
Legal name: Eduward A.J. Starink
Also performs as: A Close Call (Perform synthesiser covers), The London Starlight Orchestra and Singers (associated with Ed Starink and others)
