Annotation

Wedlock is an American electro pop outfit originating from Richmond, VA. Originally consisting of Paul Allgood and Jeff Hathaway. They released Their debut Ep Matrimony in 2006 for Kountefeit Records and a Maxisingle, "Cuts Both Ways" in 2007, before taking different musical directions. After doing remix work for "Cuts Both Ways" keyboardist Jonathan Kidder agreed to help Allgood form a live band.Bassist Kirk Bryson joined, and then drummer Ana Mitchell.Wedlock released their full length debut Exogamy in April 2008.Shortly after, Kidder and Bryson left, and were replaced by multi-instrumentalist and programmer Jay Bowden and jazz keyboardist Baxter Smith.Bowden was then replaced by bassist Lee Whitsel. Soon Wedlock was reduced to a trio due to Ana Mitchell's departure. Continuity was released in October 2009 followed by The Witnesses EP in August 2010,though this line up had effectively dissolved at the beginning of the year. Allgood then teamed with keyboardist Chris Scendo to reactivate the band. New material surfaced in 2013 followed by a promotional EP Critique in 2015. A retrospective, Defacto, saw a limited release in early 2019.
