Annotation

Fela Kuti was born "Fela Ransome Kuti" in Nigeria in 1938. His first band were the "Koola Lobitos" which he renamed to "Nigeria 70" during a tour in the USA around 1969. The band was again renamed to "Africa 70" when he returned to Nigeria. Around 1976 Fela changed his name to "Fela Anikulapo Kuti" ("Anikulapo" meaning "he who carries death in his pouch"). Later, around 1979 he formed a new band or changed the name of the band again (?) to "Egypt 80".
