While his name is mostly associated with John Coltrane's quartet, Jimmy Garrison also left us other important contributions.
His appearances on Coleman formations, just next to like-minded drummer Elvin Jones are fine moments in Ornette's discography.
He also worked with Kenny Dorham, Lennie Tristano, Jackie McLean, and later with Shepp and Sanders.

Jimmy Garrison (March 3, 1934 – April 7, 1976) was an American jazz double bassist born in Miami, Florida. He is best remembered for his long association with John Coltrane from 1961–1967.
