From the "About US" page on the orchestra's offical web site: "First organized at the Caramoor International Music Festival in the summer of 1979, the Orchestra evolved from the St. Luke's Chamber Ensemble, which was established in 1974 with Ensemble members forming the Orchestra's artistic core as principal players."

The Orchestra of St. Luke's is an American chamber orchestra based in New York City. The orchestra performs at several venues in New York City, including Carnegie Hall, The Morgan Library and Museum, and the Brooklyn Museum. Its administrative base is The DiMenna Center for Classical Music located in Manhattan's Hell's Kitchen neighborhood.
