Luke Jones is a guitarist specialising in finger-picking and he performs mainly music and songs of his own composition. Luke graduated with a BA (Hons, first class) from Dartington College of Arts (UK) in 2010, where he was able to develop his finger-picking technique and compositional and songwriting skills. He is now performing as Lux Harmonium as both a solo artist and with his four-piece band, from his base in South Devon.
The music is driven by Luke’s guitar playing and his fascination with unusual instruments. This interest has led him to build new instruments (notably the ‘harmonic guitar’) and modify existing ones and has become an important part of a continually evolving sound-world that is Lux Harmonium. He says the lyrical content of the songs owes much to the effects of insomnia.
Although the musical material is centred around Luke as a guitarist and singer, recordings often include grander arrangements. A live performance by Lux Harmonium can range from a solo performance to a quintet.
