Nana Mouskouri (Greek: Nάνα Μούσχουρη, pronounced [ˈnana ˈmusxuɾi]), born Iōánna Moúschouri (Greek: Ιωάννα Μούσχουρη, [ioˈana ˈmusxuɾi]) on October 13, 1934, in Chania, Crete, Greece, is a Greek singer who claims to have sold more than 350 million records worldwide (she was presented with a plaque representing 350 million in sales at her final concert at the Royal Albert Hall in 2009 by her record company), though it might have not exceeded 25 millions worldwide since her sales in France, the only big market where she gained fame, are "only" 15 millions, ranking her the 15th biggest seller in this country. She was known as "Nána" to her friends and family as a child. (In Greek her surname is pronounced with the stress on the first syllable – MOOS-hoo-ree – rather than the second.)
