Shihad (NZ rock group, named Pacifier between 2002 and 2004-09-17)
NZ rock group Shihad renamed themselves into Pacifier for the US market (fearing post September-11 issues with the name being a play-on-words of "Jihad"). On 2004-09-17 they officially announced they were returning to their original name, Shihad.
Shihad are a New Zealand alternative rock band based in Melbourne, Australia. During Shihad's recording career, they have produced five number-one studio albums (holding the title for most number one records for any Kiwi artist, alongside Hayley Westenra) and three top-ten singles in their home country of New Zealand. Following the September 11 tragedy, the band was known as Pacifier for a brief period of time before reverting to Shihad.
At the release time of their ninth studio album FVEY (album), Shihad have the most Top 40 NZ chart singles for any NZ artist, with 25. Of these singles, "Home Again", "Pacifier" and "Bitter" are listed at numbers 30, 60 and 83, respectively, in the Nature's Best compilation, an official collection of NZ's top 100 songs.
